Jonas S Barrel Sauna, Ebony.
The Jonas S is the Grand's compact sibling, 1.9m long, four-person capacity, and the same properly-executed Shou Sugi Ban ebony exterior. It's the barrel we install into gardens where the Grand's 2.4m footprint feels indulgent.
Because the internal volume is smaller, the same Harvia heater brings it to soaking temperature in around 20 minutes, five minutes quicker than the Grand and noticeably cheaper to run over a year.
The interior is identical to the Grand: knot-free western hemlock throughout, twin-tier benches, glass door, backrests. The only compromise you make choosing an S over a Grand is capacity, build quality, materials and finish are the same.

Living with it
How it actually works day to day.
Four adults is the honest capacity. Owners regularly fit a fifth person on the lower bench, but the twin-tier design is optimised for four with room to lie down on the upper bench for a proper sweat.
The 6kW heater is important. Installers who spec a 9kW Grand-sized heater into an S-sized barrel end up with a sauna that hits 100°C in 12 minutes then trips the safety cut-out. Ours is sized for the air volume.
Because it's lighter (~560 kg empty) it's easier to place on a properly-prepared deck rather than needing a concrete pad, subject to survey of the deck substructure.
