Barrel Saunas
Teak Harvia Spirit.The wood-fired traditional.
A traditional teak-toned barrel sauna paired with the Harvia Spirit wood-fired stove, the fully off-grid installation, no electrical works needed.
Overview
Teak Barrel Sauna, Harvia Spirit.
This is the fully off-grid barrel sauna, a teak-oiled thermowood shell with the Harvia Spirit wood-fired stove, needing no mains electricity, no consumer-unit spare capacity, no electrician on the install day.
The Spirit is Harvia's most popular wood stove for a reason: 16kW output, glass door so you watch the fire while you sit, external burn access so you top up wood without opening the sauna, and a thick cast-iron rock cradle that holds a full 40kg of Vulcanite stones for a proper Scandinavian-strength löyly.
It's the specification we recommend for rural properties without spare 32A capacity, for buyers who prefer the ritual of a wood-fire, and for garden schemes where running armoured cable would mean lifting a driveway.

Living with it
How it actually works day to day.
The Spirit is a properly-engineered wood stove, not a decorative piece with a chimney. External feed means you load wood from the outside without letting cold air into the sauna. The 40kg stone cradle stores enough heat that once it's at temperature you can go 45 minutes between logs without the temperature dropping.
Cold-to-soak is around 45 minutes on 12–15 kg of dry hardwood, longer than an electric heater, but with zero running cost beyond firewood and a fire ritual that is genuinely part of the appeal.
Flue is twin-wall insulated stainless up through the barrel roof, terminated with a spark arrestor and rain cowl. We include the full flue system, cleaning brush and first cord of kiln-dried hardwood in the price.

Every photograph on this page is a genuine Signature Garden Rooms installation.
About 45 minutes from cold to 80°C with 12–15 kg of dry hardwood. Reheat-and-hold is much less, the 40kg stone cradle stores enough heat that a top-up log every 30–45 minutes keeps the sauna at temperature.
